The holiday season is here. It is Thanksgiving. An excellent time to reflect on the things we are grateful for in our lives. Our families, our homes, our republic which still stands and countless other blessings. Our nation was founded in troubled times by stalwart individuals who stood on truth and principled ethics of doing what is right and not necessarily easy. Half the Mayflower crew and passengers died that first winter. But their faith, tenacity, and willingness to work over the following months brought about a harvest large enough to ensure survival over the soon to come winter. They were thankful and so should we. Our nation continues to function and exist because millions and millions of people daily get up and go to work. Just like those Pilgrims. Being productive beyond just being self-serving. By producing value for our employers, customers and clients, these collective actions end up with an economy that serves the people with a nation that is not perfect but has created and continues to create more opportunity and wealth to more individuals than any other nation model. Our republic is an experiment, but it is a model that has proven durable enough to serve generations of Americans, regardless of where their families were from originally. It continues to attract people from all over the world from countries that do not have what we have in America. It is Thanksgiving so do not forget to be thankful for what we have and for what we don’t have.
